My name is Jules Taylor and I am a Virtual Assistant specialising in working with Equestrian & Sports Businesses and Professionals. I take the reins of all aspects of Business, Social Media & Lifestyle Administration tasks, helping Equestrian & Sports Professionals to find the 25th hour in the day.
So what is a Virtual Assistant?
A Virtual Assistant is a self-employed business owner provides professional administrative, technical, or creative assistance to clients remotely from a home office.
An advantage of working with a Virtual Assistant is that you only need to pay for services as and when you need help, whether that be for a one off project or regular ongoing support and there are no associate recruitment and equipment costs like when you take on a member of staff.
Horses have been a lifelong passion for me, almost since before I could walk. As a teenager I spent most of my weekends and school holidays at the Stables. My work experience was spent mucking out at my local equestrian centre. I rode out every day with the student instructors and I had a ball!
I always intended to work with Horses, like those student instructors I had ridden out with, I really wanted to teach others to ride and share my passion for all things ponies, but the decision to remove the Equine Studies part of my Leisure Management course at the very last minute meant I was led down a different path and I actually ended up working as a Travel Agent for 10 years after college.
My journey from Travel Agent to Virtual Assistant Business Owner
I spent almost 15 years in the Travel Industry, 10 years as a Travel Agent and 4 years in Business Development before a move into Professional Sports for a year as Sales & Marketing Manager for a League Football Club.
Redundancy meant I took time out to regroup and started to temp as an Admin Assistant before moving into Personal Assistant roles. As a Personal Assistant I was able to use almost 20 years of admin skills and a personal love of all things organisational to build a highly successful career as a Corporate PA.
Then in February 2018 I attended the National PA Show – Office. There I met with an organisation called VIP VA who specialise in Training new Virtual Assistants and working to set Industry Standards and assist businesses find their perfect VA. Within 24 hours of meeting VIP VA at the Office Show I was inspired to buy my website domain and sign up for the VIP VA Nurture Programme, aimed at guiding aspiring VA’s through the process of becoming a business owner and changing the mindset from Employee PA to Business Owner VA.
Setting up Taylor Made PA
Choosing my business name for me was the easiest part. I had always wanted to have my own “Taylor Made” business. I thought about it when I was a Travel Agent and Taylor Made PA was to me the only option for my business name.
As I started my VA journey, I also came face to face with GDPR! Thankfully I found the Koffee Klatch GDPR Support Group for VA’s and Suzanne Dibble’s GDPR for Entrepreneurs Facebook Group and the constant updates and webinars helped make that minefield manageable!
I spent 2018 setting up my website, social media platforms and deciding how I wanted to run my business and who my clients may be. Equestrian and Sports businesses & professionals were my obvious dream clients having been an Equestrian all my life as well as a passionate Sports fan. I loved that suddenly I was building a business where all the best bits from all my career choices were coming into one role and one where I could work with my dream clients offering them my experience and passion as well as adding value.
A career highlight
I have extensive experience in Equestrian & Sports to help support you and your business. I have experience in Equestrian Volunteering, and despite a successful corporate career, by far my career highlight is having had the privilege of being a Games Maker in Event Services at the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games at Greenwich Park. It was an incredible experience and I am so proud to have been even a small part of it. It was simple brilliant and so inspirational.
I am also a regular volunteer with and supporter of The Horse Trust, working with them onsite at their stables in Speen as well as supporting them at major events like Blenheim, Windsor & HOYS.
As well as volunteering I work part time at a Premier League Football Club in Ticketing & Customer Service and I am using that experience to good use, as I am also just starting a new volunteer role with the UEFA Euro 2020 Football Tournament using my experience to Interview the potential volunteers for the tournament itself.
